In Seeking Ordinary Joy, DJ Murphy navigates the journey from heartache to happiness, tackling questions at once ordinary and cosmic, in poems, sometimes directly, sometimes spiritually, as in “Tell Me About Your Angel” — tell me about the angel who came / did she say if she’s returning for me / or was it the bluebird in your olive tree / by chance, did either mention my name? — always with imagination and warmth.​

DJ Murphy is a collaborator and major contributor to the song catalog of the Lasses Rogers Band. His lyrical phrasing and mystical storytelling provide the inspiration for the music the band writes to wrap around the words he has painted on the page.
